When it comes to achieving perfect, natural-looking eyebrows, microblading and nano brows are two popular techniques in the world of semi-permanent makeup. While both methods aim to create hair-like strokes, they differ significantly in technique, tools, and results. Let’s dive into the details to help you decide which is the best fit for you.

Microblading
Technique and Tools Microblading uses a handheld tool with multiple tiny needles to create fine, hair-like strokes on the skin's surface. The pigment is manually deposited into the upper dermal layer of the skin.

Skin Types Microblading is best suited for those with normal to dry skin. Oily skin can cause the fine strokes to blur over time, leading to less defined results.
Pros
Natural Look: Creates fine, hair-like strokes that mimic real eyebrow hairs.
Quicker procedure: It generally takes only 1.5 -2 hours for a full procedure including the time for mapping and numbing.
Lower Initial Cost: Typically, the upfront cost of microblading is lower than nano brows.
Cons
Shorter Duration: Lasts around 12-18 months, depending on skin type and aftercare.
Easy Scarring if performed with wrong technique: Kay came across a lot of customers with microblading done by others, which they were done too deep that formed scars, which makes it super difficult to correct especially if those strokes are in the front of brows. Although this is normally an essential technique to learn for every cosmetic tattoo artists, it can easily go wrong without experience.
Blurring overtime: Results don't stay as crisp as when they were freshly done, it will blur out overtime especially on oily skin types. If you have dryer skin, then good for you, your strokes will be less blurred,
If strokes are too densely to each other, very likely they will blur into a shade, something like power brows but without the nice ombre effect.
Touch-ups: Difficult to do a yearly touch up. The older strokes would go more or less blurred. Have you imagine adding new strokes on top of a blurred background? it won't look good anymore. Either wait until the ink is mostly gone, then you can start a new set or cover them with powder brows.
Nano Brows
Technique and Tools Nano brows use a digital machine with a single, fine needle to create precise, hair-like strokes. We need to go through every single stroke repeatedly for a minimum of 2-3 times.

Skin Types Nano brows are suitable for all skin types, including oily skin and mature skin.
Pros
Precision and Detail: Offers more defined, crisp strokes that look very natural.
Able for touchup anytime: The main difference between microblading and nano is that you can refresh nano anytime and it will heal nicely without strokes being blurred into much thicker ones.
Suitable for All Skin Types: Suitable for ALL SKIN TYPES, so oily or mature skin clients now have the option to do hair-like strokes brows and don't need to go with powder brows all the time.
Cons
Longer Procedure: While Nano Brows can be done without pre-numb, the whole process can take around 3-4 hours.
Specialised Skill Required: It is a more advanced technique and usually requires a highly skilled technician to achieve the best results, which can limit available options.
Higher Initial Cost: Generally, nano brows are more expensive upfront compared to microblading.
Choosing the Right Technique for You
When deciding between microblading and nano brows, consider your skin type, desired look, and budget. Here’s a quick guide:
Normal to Dry Skin: Both microblading and nano brows are suitable, but microblading may be a more cost-effective option if budget is a concern.
Oily Skin or Mature Skin: Microblading is not an option, go for Nano Brows or Ombre Powder Brows.
Budget: For a lower upfront cost, microblading is generally more affordable.
Conclusion
Both microblading and nano brows offer beautiful, natural-looking results, but they cater to different needs and preferences. By understanding the differences in technique, suitability for skin types, and the pros and cons of each method, you can make an informed decision and achieve the perfect brows for your face.
